Acedeck is excited to introduce our latest board designed specifically for street-wheel lovers, the Ares X3 GEAR. It still has the incredible characteristics of the X3, such as amazing free rolling ability, and great compatibility with all street wheels, but with much better acceleration and braking performance, and improved reliability and clearance.

Street Wheel Experience.

Just like for the X3, the most important aspect of the X3 GEAR is an optimal street wheel riding experience.

This time the X3 GEAR is fitted with gear drives instead of direct drives. The Street ELEMENT Gear Drive system has comparable free-roll ability to the previously used Direct Drive system.

By default, it comes with Kegel and ABEC adapters, making it easy for riders to swap between their favorite urethane wheels, of any size. And to compliment that, the board is fitted with the acclaimed and loved 105mm MAD Wheelz V2 urethane wheels.

Performance and Range.

The 2WD Street ELEMENT system, paired with the 170KV motors and a 120A ESC, is able to provide a lot more torque and overall performance, especially in acceleration and braking, compared to the 4WD Direct Drive system.

The battery has also been upgraded, now fitted with Samsung 50S cells, in a 14S3P configuration, which adds up to a total of 777Wh. The Samsung 50S cells are considered one of the best cells on the market, because of its impressive performance and efficiency, while also being a high-capacity cell.

Deck and Compact Size

The X3 Gear shines not only as a performance board but also as an every day board, due to its compact design and portability. Inspired by downhill boards, the deck is not too long, yet is made to adapt to various rider stances, feet placement, and comfort.

It is an improved and reinforced version of the previous X3 deck, made out of premium carbon fiber, to make sure it is as lightweight as possible.

Split-angle

It also keeps the split-angle technology, for a more locked rear truck and a more open front end, with +5º and -5º at the front and rear. The higher angle of the front truck allows for greater agility and easier turning, which is especially useful for making sharp turns. The lower angle of the rear truck provides better stability, especially at high speeds, reducing wobbling and making it easier to maintain a straight line.

The split angle design helps the board absorb ground vibrations more effectively, providing a smoother ride, particularly on rough surfaces.

CNC Machined

As always at Acedeck, we only use CNC machined aluminum everywhere we can, from the trucks and ESC cover, to the wheel hubs and gear drives on all our boards.

Compared to cast or forged aluminum elements found on most boards, our precision machined parts made out of 6061 aluminum are much more durable, and offer better turning performance and stability when it comes to our TKP Precision trucks, for example.

1. What has changed with the X3 GEAR over the previous X3?

Drive Sytem: The 4WD Direct Drive system has been replaced with a 2WD street gear drive system for better acceleration and braking performance, with similar free rolling ability, and improved clearance.

Electronics: We went from 2x 50A ESCs to a single, more powerful 120A ESC, meaning less parts to worry about. We replaced the Molicel P42A to Samsung 50S cells in the same 14S3P configuration. This means similar performance, but an extended range and capacity, from 652Wh to 777Wh. The new 170KV motors also allow of a higher top speed of 38Mph.

Wheels: Now, the board comes by default with MAD Wheelz V2 105mm wheels instead of the 95mm wheels from the X3.

Deck: The deck, while having a similar look, has been improved, reinforced and is now coated in a beautiful white finish.

Details: The board is now fitted with much better bushings, and comes with a CNC footstop included in the box for better control and foot positioning.

Reliability and Pricing: The changes from a 4WD system with 2 ESCs, to 2WD system, meant we could reduce the risk of issues overtime, but also lower the price, even though the overall performance is much stronger on the new X3 GEAR.

2. Who is it for?

The Ares X3 is made specifically for riders looking for the ultimate street wheel experience. Oftentimes, street wheel boards on the market, are budget, entry-level boards. Weak motors, small batteries, and very flexible decks that are unstable at high speed. And premium electric boards are mostly all-terrain wheels boards, or belt-driven 2-in-1. But there are many riders who wish for a premium, high-performance street wheel board, that will give them the experience of downhill riding but also uphill, with a big battery, free roll, quiet, easy wheel swap, and so on. This is exactly what the Ares X3 GEAR is. A premium, high-performance street-wheel-focused board.

It is also for riders who really love street wheels, but don’t want range anxiety. They want a longboard feel, more so than performance.

That love for street wheels is defined by the different feel they provide over big AT wheels. While AT wheels can often be described as riding on a cloud, smooth PU street wheels, give you a feeling of gliding, due to the rider being a lot closer to the ground. The rider involvement is bigger.

The compact size of the X3 GEAR also makes it a great second board to own, next to an N3 or Z3.

Overall, the Ares X3 GEAR is for a group of experienced and passionate skateboarders who value speed, performance, and range but with a strong love for the street wheel riding experience.
